The National Gallery for Modern Art in Delhi preserves and presents Indian art. It started in 1954. It contains over 10,000 works by artists who changed the artistic landscape of India.

Initially the gallery used to be a smaller building, but it has grown in size significantly since the 2009 renovation. It includes a new auditorium, a preview theater, library, conservation laboratory, academic section, and the quintessential museum shop and café.

This gallery regularly hosts lectures, seminars, and conferences; They have created a space for obtaining and preserving documents related to works of modern art. The gallery is divided into approximately two sections – traditional art and modern art.

The galleries include Rabindranath Tagore, Amrita Sher-Gil, an entire gallery of Tanjore and Mysore traditions of painting, and gallery collections and collections of individuals and subjects as the names of modern sculpture huh.

This is an ideal place for art lovers, for those people or students who understand art forms and are keen to get to know Indian history as well as modern society under one roof. The place will be very beneficial.

People genuinely interested to know in detail, regarding the paintings or the art forms can attend the walkthroughs. The timings of the walkthrough are 10:00AM; 1:30PM; and 3:30PM. Noextra cost is charged for the guided walks.

There is a souvenir shop where one can buy variety of gifts, souvenirs and picture post cards at a nominal cost.
